The Honorable Norm Archibald, Mayor, City of Abilene
The life of every community in America is held together by its neighborhoods. They bring the real quality of life we all talk about and desire. Neighborhoods are where all of our stories have begun. We are excited to have Connecting Caring Communities in Abilene, and we applaud them for their efforts to build neighborhoods all around Abilene. I look forward to the day when the influence of CCC is felt in every corner of our city and we have revitalized every neighborhood group in Abilene.

Dr. Craig Turner, President, Hardin-Simmons University
Adopting the SBCR model for our Neighborhood Enhancement Center has allowed Hardin-Simmons to not only become better neighbors to the people surrounding our university, but also has given the faculty, staff and students the opportunity to live out the commandment to ‘love our neighbors.’ We encourage other institutions to partner with Connecting Caring Communities in this effort to strengthen Abilene neighborhoods.

Tim Lancaster, CEO, Hendrick Medical Center
Hendrick Medical Center has partnered with Connecting Caring Communities because we share the same vision and mission. We both want to create a healthier community by strengthening relationships within neighborhoods. We are extremely pleased with the results of the CCC model working within our own neighborhood. The Hendrick (College Heights) Friendship House provides a wonderful place to cultivate and nurture relationships with our neighbors.

Laura Moore, Councilwoman, City of Abilene
Connecting Caring Communities is a great organization that truly has the ability to connect people and change their lives for the better. To connect with people on a very human level and truly care about their needs is in my estimation what a community is about.

Dr. Clifford Steward, Senior Pastor, First Central Presbyterian Church
It is my pleasure to write on behalf of a wonderful transforming agent in Abilene, Texas. Connecting Caring Communities is a group of caring individuals who are doing important grassroots work helping people connect with people in our city. I can easily see this as one of the most important efforts in our town to make a significant difference.
I am impressed with the organization. I sense that they are sparking a lot of healthy activity in Abilene. They give hope. They provide help. They are doing something on a city-wide level that no one else is doing.

Dr. Bill Tillman, Board Chairman, Abilene Habitat for Humanity
The atmosphere and relationships which Connecting Caring Communities attempts to bring into neighborhoods interfaces extraordinarily well with the work of Habitat for Humanity. The projects of both entities in the larger neighborhood just north of Hardin-Simmons University demonstrates a case study, pilot project, and laboratory for how these organizations have strengthened one another’s goals being met.

Larry Abrigg, AICP, Senior Planner, City of Abilene
The efforts by Connecting Caring Communities meet and exceed two basic principles of neighborhood planning. They have helped build and support neighborhood leadership and achieve neighborhood stability. The Friendship Houses in the North College neighborhood are a testimony to stability and leadership and have helped in our effort in establishing and maintaining neighborhood associations while building a sense of community.

Mark Moore, Assistant Chief of Police, Abilene Police Department
The Abilene Police Department values Connecting Caring Communities for efforts to connect different agencies and individuals to improve neighborhoods in Abilene. The Police Department recognizes the necessity of neighbors helping neighbors and wishes to support their work. The Friendship Houses establish a direct and visible contact with citizens and would be helpful in many more neighborhoods in Abilene. From personal and professional relationships with staff members I am confident Connecting Caring Communities will continue to improve Abilene neighborhoods.
